Pain can be numbed, but it cannot be healed. One can only heal the underlying condition that the pain is drawing one’s attention to.
For example, you break your leg and it causes you pain. You do not heal the pain. You heal your leg. By doing this, the pain signal that was drawing your attention to your broken leg is no longer required and disappears by itself.
This is true for all types of pain (physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual) across all types of wellbeing (intrapersonal, interpersonal and transpersonal).
Pain is simply information, to be regarded with the same degree of wonder as any other type of information such as solar eclipse.
It’s important to understand the above in order to see that pain is nothing to be afraid of. Of course it’s much easier to understand the above when one is not in pain. When one is in pain, all one wants is for the pain to go away.
